Biology and CultureEdit
The Dugs were diminutive arboreal creatures with a well-deserved reputation for unnecessary brutality and extreme mean-spiritedness. Evolving in the tops of trees on their high-gravity homeworld of Malastare has made them very agile and strong. They are noted to be excellent leapers and climbers though when walking they do so on their arms. A Dug's limbs all bear opposable thumbs, an evolutionary advantage to a life in the trees. Of particular note are the thick folds of skin at their necks. These folds can be inflated to let loose a bellow that can be heard for kilometers. In the wilds this bellow is used to denote a threat or to even warn off predators. While they were powerfully built, they were also very lean and compact. Their leathery skin ranged in shades of tan, purple, grey and red. Dugs also had fin-like ears, pronounced snouts and the males had drooping whiskers from their noses.
Dugs viewed themselves as embattled warriors, always fighting for what is rightfully theirs, but always being beaten back by just about everyone else in the galaxy. They had developed a culture that is openly self-congratulatory. There isn't a Dug alive who doesn't claim an ancestry that includes legendary heroes and patriots. Few Dugs bother to lean Basic, hoping instead to force others to acknowledge Dug society by making them learn their language. Although mated dugs would bully each other from time to time, they were fiercely loyal to one another and mated for life.
