Biology and CultureEdit

Kubaz had humanoid bodies and limbs with four broad, stubby fingers on each hand and two large toes on each foot. The most striking feature of the Kubaz was the short prehensile trunk that served as a nose, which they used to suck insects out of hives on their homeworld. Kubaz had rough-textured greenish-black skin and bristly hair grew from the tops of their heads. Kubaz eyes were extremely large and sensitive to the light of red and yellow suns, so they wear protective lenses in most foreign environments.

Kubaz were cultured beings who placed a high value on traditional values, art, music, and other forms of sophisticated entertainment. However, insect banquets were a favorite form of dinner entertainment. Although they would not be insulted if a guest did not join them for an insect feast, they would certainly conclude that the guest lacks culture.

Kubaz were natives of Kubindi, a large world circling the blue giant Ku'Bakai. This star was known for its magnificent solar flares, which had made Kubindi into an arid world given to unpredictable storms and oscillating weather patterns. The herbivorous forerunners of the Kubaz started eating insects after a powerful solar flare burned most Kubindi's plantlife away. To increase the variety of their meals, families began to exchange insect hives, and a planetary trading community soon developed. Kubaz family members usually lived in close proximity to each other, and Kubaz social policies were primarily determined by the desires of the larger trading families.


Many Kubaz aboard were spies of one sort or another. While many took on jobs from the established powers, all reported back to their respected family on their findings, primarily culture, art and cuisine, specifically the instects of the world in question. Unfortunately for many insectoids, Kubaz didn't differentiate from animal insects and sentient insects, and often partook in the black market selling of insectoids for the purpose of consuming.

Special AbilitiesEdit

Sensitive Eyes: Due to growing up under a blue giant, Kubaz are practically blind on planets with yellow or red suns and must wear protective eye gear to be able to see. Without their goggles, Kubaz suffer a 3D penalty to all active skills (sneak, search, blaster, etc) and are inflicted with 2D stun damage which they can roll stamina to soak every hour of exposure. A Kubaz cannot die from the pain, but they can go unconscious.

Bargain Sauvy: Thanks to information shared through the family, when a Kubaz is seeking out exotic insects, legal or otherwise, to consume, the Kubaz gains a 2D bonus to streetwise (illegal insects or insectoids) and investigations (legal insects). They also gain a 1D bonus to the bargain skill when it comes down to talking price.

Story FactorsEdit

Reputation for Eating Sentients: As Kubaz see no difference between munching on a cockroach or snacking on a Verpine, they have developed a reputation for eating sentient insectoids. This causes insectoids to be extremely weary to downright fearful of a Kubaz's presence. When a Kubaz interacts with an insectoids, intimidation is rolled at double its rating (i.e. Intimidations of 3D+1 is rolled at 6D+2).
